Development of bio-based and hybrid composites using biochar, hemp, wood fibers, and other natural fillers, as well as unsorted plastics (e.g. PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP) and biodegradable polymers (TPS, PLA, etc.).
Engineering feedstocks to meet target rheological, thermal, microstructural, mechanical, and environmental performance for extrusion, molding, and 3D printing.
Formulation of low-carbon and carbon-negative mortars and concretes, replacing high-carbon binders with SCMs and biomass-derived fillers (e.g. biochar, hemp, mycelium) to lower embodied carbon, enhance strength, durability, hydration, insulation, refine pores and cracks, and raise sustainability; use targeted additives to keep rheology and printability in the green zone for extrusion
